Overview of Taylor Gold Label 814e Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Natural

Gold Label 814e

6-String | Sitka Spruce Top | Honduran Rosewood Back and Sides | Neo-Tropical Mahogany Neck | West African Crelicam Ebony Fretboard | LR Baggs - Element VTC Electronics | Taylor Deluxe Hardshell Brown Case

Boasting superior craftsmanship, top-tier tonewoods and a bevy of design innovations, the Gold Label 814e introduces the world to a new kind of Taylor sound. This model features a new body shape we've called the Super Auditorium, a slightly larger version of our famous Grand Auditorium shape that yields impressive power with a heritage-inspired warmth and richness that will entice traditionalists and contemporary ears alike. Back and sides of Honduran rosewood are paired with a torrefied Sitka spruce top, delivering exceptional low-end presence, clear trebles and a complex harmonic character with overtones that bloom as notes resonate. Inside, a new iteration of our V-Class bracing dials up longer sustain, greater volume and near-perfect pitch accuracy all the way up the neck. A new long-tenon neck joint improves overall resonance and sonic transfer, also providing super-precise adjustability whenever the need arises. This Super Auditorium guitar sports a fresh suite of visual appointments with a new Continental inlay suite, a new pickguard design, grained ivoroid trim, antique chrome Gotoh 510 tuners with ebony buttons, bone bridge pins, and a gloss-finished body. It ships with LR Baggs Element VTC electronics and a deluxe hardshell case with a British Cocoa exterior.

Features

The Quintessential Taylor Guitar, Evolved

Indian rosewood, powerful Adirondack spruce, V-Class bracing, and a host of comfort-enhancing features elevate our flagship Grand Auditorium guitar to new heights.

Super Auditorium

A new take on Taylor’s signature Grand Auditorium body shape, the Super Auditorium is designed to produce a uniquely warm, deep voice with an old-heritage character.

  • Designed and released by Andy Powers in 2025 with the introduction of the Gold Label Collection
  • Rich, deep low-end response with round, woody trebles—a full-bodied voice across the tonal spectrum
  • Exceptional power and dynamic range—you can play softly or really dig in and get a warm response

Building on the versatility, balance, and clarity that players have come to love from Bob Taylor’s Grand Auditorium body shape, consider the Super Auditorium an evolution of that playing experience that incorporates all the benefits of the V-Class bracing architecture developed by Andy Powers. With curves and contours that draw on Bob’s design but with a slightly longer body and wider lower bout, the Super Auditorium will feel familiar while adding a new sonic dimension inspired by guitars from the 1930s and ’40s. With a focus on warmth, the Super Auditorium produces an open, blooming voice that produces a room-filling tone with a light touch while gaining power as you dig in. Inside, a fanned V-Class variant enhances the depth and resonance, enhancing the volume and sustain while ensuring pitch accuracy all the way up the neck.

Honduran Rosewood

Extremely dense compared to other rosewood species, Honduran rosewood sings with a uniquely smooth voice that makes it worthy of our finest guitars.

Origin:  Honduras

Sound: Honduran rosewood has rich heritage in the world of acoustic instruments, highly valued as the wood of choice for marimba bars and now an ingredient in some of Taylor’s finest guitars.

Considerably denser than Indian rosewood, Honduran rosewood has an extremely low damping factor, which contributes to a supremely textured, harmonically complex tone. You’ll hear the warm low end and sparkling, chime-like trebles that you’d expect from other rosewood species, along with a smoothness that stands out from other hardwoods. Overtones are lush and bloom out as notes sustain while maintaining enough clarity to ensure you can cut to the front of a mix when needed.

Goes Well With: A wide range of playing styles and genres, from Americana to blues to fingerpicking applications and beyond. Pairs especially well with a sinker redwood top, which adds midrange heft and even greater warmth.

Sitka Spruce

As a guitar soundboard, or top, Sitka spruce is the tonewood standard of the modern era. It’s used on 85-90 percent of the guitars that Taylor makes. Its combination of strength and elasticity translates into a broad dynamic range, yielding crisp articulation and allowing for everything from aggressive strumming and flatpicking to fingerpicking. Sitka spruce is Bob Taylor’s personal favorite for an all-around great guitar.

Origin:  Canada

Goes Well With: All styles of guitars and players.
