Overview of Fender - "Stringmaster-T "Triple 8 String Lap Steel Guitar ( Very Rare Black ) 1954 - w/HD Case - USED
A fully complete early 1950s Fender Stringmaster Triple 8—a three-neck lap steel guitar with eight strings per neck—finished in a somewhat rare and hard-to-find Ebony Black. This instrument is 100% complete with all original parts, right down to the Tele-style top hat switch cap and ashtray bridge covers.
- Original 3-way switch, pots, knobs, pickups, legs, and tuners
- Completely free of rust or pitting, which is often seen on vintage lap steels
- Exceptionally clean and in perfect working order
The Ebony finish shows some scattered checking throughout, which is typical for an instrument of this vintage. However, the chrome hardware remains in near-mint, mirror-like condition.
The only non-original component is the black hard shell case with white piping and orange interior. This Fender replacement case likely dates from the late 1960s or early 1970s.
Specifications:
- Made in Fullerton, California (1953–54)
- Serial Number: 5440 (located on the “string-through” portion of the bridge assembly on the first neck)
