Overview of VINTAGE/ MIJ - Yamaha "Red label" FG 180 Acoustic w/ Hard Shell Case - 1969 - USED
This is a consignment sale item. One original owner!!
Very well played in but still in very good condition for any guitar of this vintage. Zero cracks or and past structural repairs of any kind. Nice flat solid spruce top that is 100% free of any top healing or lifting of top behind the bridge that one may expect to see. Most these early red label Yamaha acoustics were original sold as a less expensive introductory level guitars, and therefore ended up neglected and sitting un-cased in a dry closet of some sort. So Sad!! This one however has had only one owner since 1969 and for him, this was his daily player. Sounds like it too!! Very rich lows and bright crystal-ish highs that can only be a result of constant play. The mahogany back and side are also 100% crack free but does indeed show some signs of reglular play-wear such as a few pretty large scratches here and there. I say,.. "As it should" for a guitar that was played as frequently as this one has. The rosewood fretboard still has its original frets and they have indeed seen a few fret dress or three over its lifetime so at some point down the road, this bad boy will need a re-fret. However at ptesent, there is still lots there and it plays just great! Fully set up and ready to find owner #2!! Sold with a hard shell case.
