A very lightly used Peavey “JSX 120 Joe Satriani” signature 3-channel, all-tube guitar head in excellent to near-mint condition. It has been gigged very little, stored extensively, and comes complete with its original Peavey 3-button footswitch as well as a new 15-foot MIDI footswitch cable.
There are no scuffs or dings on the chrome faceplate or the black tolex covering, though there is one very small crack in the black plastic upper heat vent beside one of the mounting screws. Not a big deal, but it is visible.
Peavey and Joe Satriani set out to create an amplifier that would offer the widest range of EQ options and gain structures possible. This amp delivers tones ranging from the Classic 50 to vintage British to the modern Triple XXX—and everything in between.
The versatile and comprehensive control section includes a master volume knob and independent volume controls for each of the three channels (Ultra, Crunch, and Clean). Tone shaping is achieved through passive Bass, Mid, and Treble controls on the Clean channel, while the Ultra and Crunch channels use active Low, Mid, and High controls.
The Clean channel is pristine yet warm and is voiced to work exceptionally well with effects pedals. The Ultra and Crunch channels feature gain controls and Fat switches, allowing players to tame this thunderous tube-powered beast while achieving killer tones.
Global Resonance and Presence knobs enhance control over high-end frequencies, while a noise gate on the Crunch and Ultra channels reduces excess noise generated when running high gain and EQ settings. The gate is fully adjustable, so you can clamp it down, leave it slightly open, or turn it off completely.
