When Vic Firth made the VicKick Hard Radial Wooden Beater, they were concerned with sound quality - not the mechanical motion of the pedal. If you want your double bass 32nd notes and other bass notes to have some serious punch without sacrificing the tone of the drum, give these a try.
When set in the 'radial' orientation, the beater head increases in articulation and rebound while reducing the amount of space it takes up - to make room for some double pedal work. In the 'flat' orientation you'll get more surface contact, which means more tone and volume.
