The BP899 is a low-profile, omnidirectional lavalier microcapacitor with terminations for wired or wireless use. The microphone's wide dynamic range and tolerance for high sound pressure levels ensure an intelligible and natural sound that is ideal for performing and television performers, speakers, and worship hosts. Low-sensitivity models are also available for theatre. The diaphragm opening is covered with a transparent, moisture-wicking acoustically protective net that provides maximum frequency response and long-lasting performance.

An included resonance cap can be applied to the microphone to further improve intelligibility, and it is designed to keep sweat and moisture away from the microphone. The two included windscreens have a clasp that secures the windshield to the microphone and prevents it from accidentally falling off, which can be crucial when actively using the microphone for shows or sports activities. If a close-up directional miking is required, the BP898 with cardioid capsule is recommended.

The mic cable is made of a heavy-duty urethane elastomer that provides ultimate flexibility and strength, while resisting abrasion and moisture. The mic comes with a clothing clip that has two strain relief points that isolate the mic from mechanical noise transferred through the cable.
