FRONT PANEL FEATURES

  • Instrument Input: Use this ¼" mono jack to connect your instrument using a standard cable.
  • Passive/Active Switch: Change between passive and active mode to accommodate different instrument types. Active mode provides a hotter signal that can lead to early amp distortion if desired.
  • Microtubes Button: Activate or deactivate the Microtubes Engine, which adds natural compression, harmonic enhancement, and saturation to your sound. The engine operates before the clean section, allowing further tone shaping with the 6-band EQ.
  • Compression Knob: Adjust the amount of dynamic compression applied to the Microtubes Engine. The makeup gain is automatically adjusted. Compression can be disabled or assigned using the Darkglass Suite.
  • Drive Knob: Control the amount of distortion delivered by the Microtubes Engine, ranging from soft warm overdrive to modern distortion.
  • Level Knob: Adjust the output volume of the Microtubes Engine.
  • Blend Knob: Mix between the clean signal and the distorted signal from the Microtubes Engine.
  • Tone Knob: Control the high harmonic content of the Microtubes Engine using a variable low pass filter. Increase for more attack and definition, or decrease for a smoother sound.
  • B3K/VMT Switch: Choose between two overdrive voicings. B3K mode provides an aggressive and percussive sound, while VMT mode adds mid-range emphasis for a warmer and more neutral character.
  • Gain Knob: Adjust the volume of the signal before the Active 6-band EQ. Set it low for clean operation or higher for a more aggressive tone.
  • Bass, Mids, and Treble Sliders: These sliders control the low, mid, and high frequencies, respectively, allowing you to shape the tone to your preference.
  • Master Knob: Control the overall volume of the amplifier.
  • Mute Button: Instantly mute the amplifier.
  • Dimensions: The amp head measures 26.7 cm (10¼") in width, 25.5 cm (10″) in length, and 7.1 cm (2¾") in height, with a weight of 2.4 kg (5.3 lb).

The Darkglass Microtubes amp head provides a comprehensive set of controls and features to shape your bass sound and achieve a wide range of tones.

DARKGLASS SUITE

By using the desktop version of the Darkglass Suite, you gain access to a wide range of impulse responses from the provided library, as well as the ability to load your own custom impulse responses. This allows you to fine-tune your sound with precision. Additionally, the suite enables you to control the amplifier channel settings specifically for the Super Intelligent Footswitch. The Intelligent Footswitch is a versatile accessory for the Alpha·Omega 900 that offers intuitive control. With a simple tap, you can engage or disengage the Distortion, while holding the footswitch for 3 seconds mutes the amplifier. Connected to the amp head via a standard 1/4" cable and powered by a microcontroller, the footswitch communicates with the head using a proprietary protocol, providing seamless control over your bass tone.

BACK PANEL FEATURES

The speaker output section of the Darkglass Microtubes amp provides various connectors and controls:

  • Speaker Connector: Use this Speakon combo jack to connect your amplifier to the speaker cabinet using either Speakon or ¼" speaker cables. Do not use an instrument cable to avoid amplifier damage.
  • Send: This output sends the signal to effects pedals.
  • Return: Use this input to receive the signal from effects pedals. The master volume control comes after this input.
  • Ground Lift: Use this control to lift the ground of the DI XLR output, helpful for reducing ground noise in your DI signal.
  • DI Output: Use this connector to send your signal to a console, mic preamp, interface, etc. The bypass signal and the amp signal with cabinet simulation are available, and you can switch between them using the cab select switch.
  • USB: The USB connector allows you to use the Darkglass Suite to load different cabinet impulses or adjust various parameters on your amp.
  • Headphone Output: Connect your headphones to enjoy impulse-based cabinet emulation.
  • Aux In: Use this connector to play music from external devices like laptops, phones, or MP3 players. The input is routed only to the headphone output.
  • Cabinet Select: Use this switch to select between three different cabinet impulses or the clean DI signal. This selection applies to both the XLR and headphone output signals.
  • Footswitch: The Intelligent Footswitch allows remote engagement and disengagement of the Alpha·Omega Engine. It also enables muting the amplifier when held down. Use a regular mono instrument cable to connect the amp to the footswitch. Remove the cable from the footswitch jack if you want to control the amp from the front panel.
  • AC Socket: Use this connector to supply electric power to the amplifier. Set the voltage selector switch correctly before turning on the amp (100-230 VAC, 50-60Hz).
  • AC Power ON/OFF: Use this switch to turn the amplifier on or off.

The Darkglass Microtubes amp head's speaker output section provides a range of connectivity options and controls for integrating effects, recording, headphones, and external devices, enhancing your overall playing experience.
