Very gently used and recently traded in Eastwood Sidejack Series 6 string baritone electric in High Gloss - Ebony Black. A truly fantastic tip of the hat to the classic era of Mosrite made baritones of the 1960's. Far out!! Great player with a few very logical player upgrades such as a Dimarzio "Virtual P90" Soapbar pickup now mounted in the bridge position with its original Eastwood factroy EW-P90 soapbar pickup in the neck pickup position. Replacement chrome Gotoh Tune-0-matic bridge and tailpiece. Upgraded CTS volume and tone pots and switchcraft output jack, along with a replacement set of 3x3 Sperzel Trim-Lok brushed nickel locking tuners. Excellent overall condition with very minimal playwear in the form of scratching and dings,..However the high gloss clear coat has been removed from the back of the neck which adds to the guitars comfort and overall playability. One will also notice that this beauty is infact missing its plastic 3 ply truss rod cover. Not sure what happend there,.. but it is what it is!! Fully restrung and set up with a fresh set of Daddario EXL157 14 tyo 68 gauge strings and is sold without a case or gig bag.
Sidejack Series instruments from Eastwood are based on the storied vintage Mosrite guitars from the early 1960s. The originals were popularized by The Ventures and other surf bands synonymous with the popular guitar sound of the era. Known for their distinctive offset shape, featuring a German Carve with reverse-Stratocaster silhouette, Eastwood’s Sidejack designs are a faithful tribute to the originals while delivering modern quality, enhanced playability, and serious tone! The Sidejack Baritone models with their low tuning and longer scale length have a deep, throaty growl that's perfect for adding a little sumthin' sumthin' to your tunes. Whether you are looking for new songwriting inspiration, or another tool for the guitar arsenal, the Sidejack Baritone is an excellent choice!
The original single-coil "soapbar" design had a special sound; low notes were solid and not tubby - they had an almost "piano" tone quality - while high notes were fat all the way up the neck. DiMarzio wanted to reproduce this sound without 60-cycle hum. In the end, they used their patented Virtual Vintage® technology to create the Virtual P90™. The two coils are tuned to different frequency ranges and output voltages, so tone and balance can be tuned by adjusting pole piece heights. It's almost the same effect as adjustable high-fidelity speaker crossovers.
An obvious question is how the Virtual P90™ differs from the DLX-90™. The Virtual P90™ is a little more raw-sounding: high notes have a little more snap, and low notes more growl. If you have a fairly warm-sounding guitar and amp setup, the Virtual P90™ would be a good choice for neck and bridge positions. If your guitar is more on the bright side, try the Virtual P90™ in the neck and the DLX-90™ in the bridge. Not available in a "dog-ear" version.
