Godin - Freeway Classic HSH Burgundy Metallic w/ Godin Gig Bag (2004) - USED

The Godin Freeway Classic is the first double-cutaway design by Godin in several years. Despite the tremendous success of the single-cutaway design featured throughout the Godin line, there has always been a contingent of hard-core double-cutaway enthusiasts encouraging the company to create something for them. With that in mind, the Freeway Classic was developed. The basic formula is classic Godin—a versatile blues/rock gigging machine with boutique-level build quality at a blue-collar price.

Godin’s rock maple necks are known throughout the guitar industry for their outstanding feel and impressive sustain. The 25" scale neck on the Freeway features Godin’s Ergo-Cut shape and medium-jumbo frets. Neck stability is ensured by a double-action truss rod system capable of both adding and removing relief.

The body consists of a center block of silver leaf maple with lightweight poplar wings. Silver leaf maple is an excellent tonewood, with a weight and density similar to mahogany. Its warm tonal character pairs perfectly with the rock maple neck. To maximize performance, each neck and body is joined with a precise wood-to-wood connection, free of paint or excess glue, allowing for optimal energy transfer.

While silver leaf maple offers excellent tone, it is relatively heavy. To balance the instrument and improve comfort, the core is paired with lighter poplar wings. This results in a guitar that feels comfortable while still delivering rich, resonant tone.

The Godin humbucker–single–humbucker pickup configuration takes full advantage of the Freeway’s strong acoustic response. A dual 5-way switching system, along with volume and tone controls, provides excellent tonal versatility.
