Very nicely played in 1990 Martin D-37K that is complete with its original Martin hard shell case. Featuring a spruce top and highly figured Koa 2 piece back and sides. One original owner and recently aquired from a private estate sale. Known for its loud, balanced, loud tone with rich sonic overtones, the D-37 Koa is often discribed as a hybrid of Martins D-18 and D-28 charactistics with mahogany-like mids, and Rosewood like bass tones. Produced in very limited numbers between 1980 and 1995, this 1990 model sits almost right smack in the middle of the total production run, therefore making this beauty a bit of a rarity in Martin guitars.
The Martin D-37K has an Antique Amber tinted - solid spruce top and is quite distinct from the D-37K2 which is an all Koa wood construction guitar. Solid Mahogany neck and Ebony fingerboard with specialized combination Abalone Diamond-Triangle-Snowflake inlays. Original Martin 3&3 closed gear tuners and a Rosewood bridge with a bone saddle and bridge pins.
As stated, the guitar has been played in quite nicely so it does show some light scattered playwear on the spruce top due to constant use. Such as a few very small dings just above the bridge and armrest area, one just above the soundhole, and another located down below the bottom bout of the body. There is also a 1-inch long check mark in the lacquer located on the bass side of the mahogany neck just beside the nut. As for repair history, one will notice a past seperation in the center book-match of the spruce top that has been properly repaired at some point in the guitar history. Although quite visible, the repair job has been fully inspected and is and very solid and, other than this one past repair issue, the rest of the guitar is 100% crack and past repair free. Freshly dressed frets, restrung with a set of Elixer Nanoweb 80-20 / 12 to 53 gauge strings, fully set up and all ready to go!!
