The R-121 Live MP from Royer is a matched pair of microphones that are based off the R-121 ribbon microphone that has been specially enhanced for live performance applications. The 4-micron aluminum ribbon has a figure 8 polar pattern to provide equal sensitivity on both sides of the element. It also provides consistent performance, regardless of the distance of a sound source. The ribbon has a smooth, natural response and no active electronics to overload or produce distortion. This gives the mic an exceptionally low self-noise and high SPL capability, and a lack of phase distortion at high frequencies.
