The handpan is the perfect combination of percussion and melody instrument. It consists of two thin, assembled stainless steel bowls. As part of their manufacturing process, the halves are painstakingly hammered by hand. This creates dents and a small mound in the middle of the body. These surfaces form the different sound fields. The central note lies in the middle of the handpan, surrounded by a circle with 8 notes. If the fields are played, bright, long-lasting sounds are created.
