Introduced in 2024 to cap our 50th anniversary celebration, the Taylor Legacy Collection has already impressed players with its throwback designs inspired by Bob Taylor’s earliest builds and most significant contributions to the craft of guitar-making. Now, we’re expanding the collection with the Legacy 914ce, a Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric that hearkens back to premium guitars that wowed musicians with their blend of lush, versatile tone and dazzling aesthetic appointments. This model returns the 914ce to its classic configuration of hand-selected Indian rosewood back and sides paired with an Engelmann spruce top, voiced with traditional X-bracing architecture, and designed with a Venetian cutaway. Sonically, the result is a sparkling voice with bold top-end clarity complemented by a rich bass range and a slight scoop in the midrange, with overtones that develop and bloom as notes and chords resonate. As with other models in this collection, the Legacy 914ce features some modern performance-enhancing touches to ensure an accommodating experience for players, including our contemporary neck design for smooth fretting and easy microadjustability.
Reflecting its position in the premium 900 Series, this model boasts striking visual details such as green abalone top purfling and rosette, gold hardware, and elegant Cindy inlays for the fretboard, peghead, and bridge inspired by and named for Bob Taylor’s wife. Complementary visual elements include rosewood binding, red-accented back and side purfling, and a full-body gloss finish. It features an LR Baggs Element VTC acoustic pickup for warm, authentic plugged-in tone and ships with a deluxe brown hardshell case.
